THE BEGINNING OF YOUR CREATIVE JOURNEY
Welcome to the first day of your Victorian lampshade retreat—a time where creativity meets comfort, and where you'll take the first steps in crafting a truly beautiful piece.
Morning Session:
We’ll start the day with a delightful breakfast in the cozy ambiance of my studio. This is more than a meal—it's a chance to relax, enjoy homemade dishes, and connect with fellow creatives as we share stories and set the stage for our journey ahead.
After breakfast, we’ll dive into the essentials of lampshade-making.
• Frame Preparation: You’ll learn how to clean, treat, and prepare the wireframe—the backbone of your lampshade—using the best materials and techniques to ensure durability and elegance.
• Wrapping the Frame: Once prepared, you’ll wrap the frame with care, creating a smooth foundation for fabric application.
• First Fabric Layer: Next, you’ll begin sewing the first layer of fabric onto your frame, laying the base that will support the intricate designs to come.
We’ll pause midday for a lunch break, with drinks and homemade dishes provided to keep you refreshed and inspired.
Afternoon Session:
As the day progresses, you’ll begin working on the second layer of fabric, incorporating lace to bring texture and detail to your lampshade. Step by step, your creation will start to take shape, transforming raw materials into something truly special.
You’ll also have access to a comprehensive list of all the materials we’re using and a guide to trusted suppliers for your future projects. Whether you’re new to sewing or experienced, this day is designed to build your confidence and spark your creativity.
By the end of Day 1, your lampshade will already showcase the foundations of its Victorian elegance, and you’ll be excited to continue the journey on the second day.

CRAFTING PERFECTION: BRINGING YOUR VISION TO LIFE
The second day of our workshop begins with another warm and welcoming breakfast. As we gather around the table, we’ll share inspirations and enjoy the tranquility of our woodland retreat.
Morning Session:
Returning to our workstations, we’ll pick up where we left off:
• Finalizing the Lace Layer: Carefully finishing the lace details added the day before, refining the structure, and ensuring the layers are perfectly in place.
• Adding the Trims and Fringes: Together, we’ll attach the trims and fringes, the defining elements that elevate your lampshade and give it its signature Victorian charm.
Lunch and Breaks:
We’ll break midday for lunch and provide snacks throughout the day, giving you opportunities to recharge and relax as you work.
Afternoon Session:
The focus of the afternoon will be on the finishing touches that bring your lampshade to life. With every detail, your creation will transform into a stunning piece, ready to take home and adorn your space.
For moments of rest and reflection, our peaceful garden will be open to you. Take a stroll among the trees or simply enjoy the birdsong in this serene environment—it’s the perfect balance to our creative work.
By the end of the day, your Victorian lampshade will be complete, showcasing the artistry and effort you’ve poured into it. This enriching experience will leave you with not only a beautiful creation but also new memories and connections to cherish.
